Hong Kong

Nan Lian Garden

After visiting Macao it was pretty quick and simple for us to visit Hong Kong, with just a one hour ferry over to Hong Kong island.

Our first stop once arriving at Hong Kong Island was Nan Lian Garden, which is absolutely stunning. I would have to say this was probably one of the most peaceful places I have visited so far. Also, the views weren’t too bad.

Hong Kong Skyline

We stayed at The Shangri-La hotel in Kowloon, which allowed you to have some amazing views of the Hong Kong skyline at night. The pictures do not do it justice. But, I would definitely recommend getting a cocktail and chilling out by the harbour and taking in those skyline views.
Also, at 8pm every night there is a symphony of lights show which is worth a try to see (if you’re not too busy sightseeing and want a chilled one).

Lantau Island

While visiting Hong Kong we were also able to visit the beautiful Lantau Island, famous for the Tian Tan Buddha statue looking down on the island.
Honestly, the views from up there were breath-taking and just extremely relaxing. Watching the clouds cast over the hills with the Buddha statues all around you is nothing like I have experienced.
It is something to definitely put on your list if you can.DSC00444

Fish/Street Markets

The Asian culture is renowned for their fish and street markets, so we made sure to visit as many as we could. For street markets, Temple Street market had to be my favourite, you can get some great gifts for people and some pretty decent bargains. They do drive a hard sale there, but they love a good negotiator 😉

The Aberdeen Fishing Market was a pretty cool place to visit with the biggest floating seafood restaurant! It definitely allows you to take in the difference of culture, and the heights of some of the tower blocks will really hit you once you’re there.

As soon as we heard Hong Kong had a DisneyLand it was first on our list of things to see 😀
I don’t care how old I am I will always love Disney and this DisneyLand was amazing!

The fact it had a ToyStory Land, it literally made my life.
So, yeah we decided to be big kids for the day which I think people should probably do more often.

So, heres to friendships that have lasted through university to getting our first proper jobs to now sightseeing beautiful parts of the world.
